6 METERS SMALL MAGNETIC LOOP

The 6 meters loop is made with a section of 1 meter 70 centimeters, 9 mms. soft copper tube closed by a 10 Pico farads mini butterfly capacitor.

This loop was designed to be used with a QRP transceiver like the Yaesu FT 817 or the Icom IC 703.

The inner loop is made with a 34 centimeters piece of 4 mms. solid electrical copper wire.

The capacitor shaft is thinner then the knobs standards, so the solution was look for a plastic knob to fit on the capacitor 4 mms aisle.

The tuning knob was just waiting for me at the baker’s coffee shop.

 

I was decided to keep the antenna at the window most of the time that I stay at home to monitor 50.110 MHZ activity.

I was trying to imagine something elegant to protect the sensitive tuning plastic box against the rain that would certainly damage the capacitor in minutes.

The rain proof cover was waiting for me inside a pair of leather tennis shoes that I brought last year from a trip to LU land.
